Story

Hello everyone,

On November 6th I will be running the New York City Marathon on behalf of Keep a Child Alive (KCA), an organization that is working with front line activists and local partners in developing countries to lift people out of poverty and increase access to education. Co-founded in 2003 by Alicia Keys to provide essential support to children suffering with HIV/AIDS, KCA has now expanded its impact with programs across Kenya, Rwanda, South Africa, Uganda and India, serving over 150,000 children and young adults annually.

These past two years have been incredibly hard for everyone, and among other things, COVID-19 has worsened living conditions for millions of children in poverty who have limited access to food, sanitation, shelter, healthcare and education. I found this meaningful opportunity to do something about it - and so this year I am participating in the New York City Marathon as a KCA-charity runner.  As I train for this 26.2-mile race, my goal is to raise over $3,000 to support the work done by KCA. I am training and running this race in honor of a dear friend of mine, Greg Hoffer, who we recently lost. Greg had a love for running, movement and spending time outdoors that was infectious. The pure joy that he sought from running was apparent each time that he talked about it. He has inspired me to pursue fun, scary goals like this no matter how busy my life may seem.  My hope is that as I honor Greg by putting in the miles and embracing the challenge, we can work together to raise money for an incredibly important cause!

Donations made through this platform are secure and will be remitted directly through to KCA. Thanks so much for your support,  it really does make a difference.
